Website Coordinator
Be part of PTSA spending most of your time at home on your own computer!
Mount Rainier is looking for one or more persons to update the website's content. While volunteers need to computer literate, they don't have to know anything technical about creating web pages. You will spent most of your time plugging in new dates, names, and information. You get to be on the PTSA board also, with less than a meeting a month helping to plan events and projects. This is the perfect way to stay up on what is happening without over doing. Get involved and help get information out to all the families of Mount Rainier. This is the perfect position for the working parent, because most of the work can be done when it is convenient for you. The Volunteer Coordinator portion includes responding to requests from teachers and staff to find volunteers to help with different events and projects. This helps you stay informed and part of what is going on at school. The Membership portion involves putting together a couple of flyers (we have most of the information already to go) and inputting the information in the computer. Most of the Membership job is done between the end of August and October.

A new PTSA position just opened up for the 2009-2010 school year. If you have wanted to get involved in your child's school, but just don't have time for a full-time commitment, the Club Card Coordinator is the answer!
It is really very simple to be the Club Card Coordinator. All you need to do is to attend a handful of PTSA meetings during the year, provide a promotional flyer for the back to school envelope (fill in the blanks or make your own), and obtain new sign ups. You can do this by taking advantage of events where there are many adults attending (e.g., open house, conferences, 8th grade parent night, etc.). It has to be the easiest fundraiser we have in PTSA. Why not give it a try? The Albertson's Community Partners Program and the Safeway Club Card are the two organizations that provide money, year-round, to PTSA. Safeway partners with the eScrip program to provide its contributions. The eScrip program helps schools and other non-profit organizations earn thousands of dollars for much needed programs and activities by offering MRHS PTSA the opportunity to earn large sums of money with a minimal amount of effort. To help you get started, the eScrip website contains a coordinator Toolkit, My assistant, monthly reports, report and payment schedules, a list of supporters and ways to keep in contact with them, and most importantly the eScrip Power (training) Sessions and how to videos just for New Coordinators. eScrip is constantly updating their website with new ways to improve membership and with additional training opportunities. They make it very easy. I hope you consider this non-elected board position. It's an easy way to contribute to the community without it taking up your life. Do you like being involved with what is going on at Mt. Rainier? Do you like building relationships with teachers, staff, coaches, parents and students? Do you think communication between school and MR families is important? Then Newsletter Coordinator is the position for you!
You do not need journalistic, writer or photography skills — the newsletter is put together by cut/pasting write-ups and pictures from many different sources. These are sent to you by email and simply inserted into our very easy-to-use newsletter software. The software does not need to be installed on your computer — everything is located online. As outgoing Newsletter Coordinator, I will be more than happy to walk you through the process! If you are interested in volunteering for the Newsletter Coordinator position, please contact Jolanda at This email address is being protected from spam bots. The store was opened as a fundraiser to help offset the cost of the Senior Safe Graduation Night Party (aka Grad Night Party) and operates all school-year around. The Student Store is open every school day. We sell a variety of items including school supplies (yes, we carry Graph Composition books!) and healthy snacks (we have oranges, cheese and applesauce!) as well as Spirit Stuff such as MRHS lanyards and backpacks, pom-poms, spirit beads and (temporary) tattoos. Most all snacks and items are 1 dollar… except for a couple spirit items. The hours are 10:30 a.m. until noon during both lunches.
We need parent volunteers to staff the Student Store. It's not difficult and we have written instructions to help you along. Iit's great fun to interact with the students. You would need to arrive by 10:15 a.m .and staff the Student Store until it closes at noon. You would then count the cash and leave.
