About JIM KENNETJim coached at Mount Rainier High School from 1969-1978. Jim's athletes believed in his philosophy of hard work, year around training and focusing on attention to detail (technique, race strategy, relay hand off's, and timing in the starts). Part of the reason for Jims success was the lengths he would go to apply innovative coaching techniques. Jim pioneered the regular use of videotape feedback as well as personally devising things like wooden boxes for jumping drills in the offseason. Jim mentored developing athletes and assisted the Junior High coaches in developing their programs which in turn fed Mount Rainier. Jim produced perhaps the broadest range of athletic excellence among all of his contemporaries, sending athletes in all disciplines to the state meet. Prior to coming to Mount Rainier High School Jim Won 5 Olympic League titles in 6 years at Olympic jr high in the Burien Wa. Jim was born in Victoria, BC and he graduated from WWSC (now Western Washington University) where he competed as a quarter miler. Jim now shares residences between Phoenix Arizona and Kent Washington.
