Exploration Academy Student Led Conferences will be Thursday, May 8 from 2:30-8:00 and on Friday, May 9 from 7:30-2:30.
Why student led conferences?
• Involvement makes learning active
• Provides opportunities to identify and celebrate each students individual growth
• Provides opportunities for students to evaluate their own performance
• Encourages students to accept responsibility for their learning
• Gives students a strong sense of accomplishment and pride
• Develops leadership skills
• Increases family participation in student learning
• It is a 4 P (Portfolio) graduation requirement
What does a student-led conference look like? The student:
• Leads the conference
• Presents a collection of work that reflects his/her learning
• Discusses his/her reading and math skills
• Presents his/her academic and future goals
As a result, families are provided the opportunity to talk with their student about work that is presented so that parents will gain a better understanding of academic expectations. Parents will also identify ways to support students as they achieve their goals.
